Harrogate St Peter's Church hosts collaboration between the Co-op and Harrogate Fair Trade Shop

A unique community photo exhibition celebrating sustainability, Fairtrade and cooperation has been launched this week at St Peter's Church in Harrogate.

The exhibition, which will run until Sunday, July 26 in the church’s foyer, has been organised by the Fair Cooperation Network, a partnership between Co-op and the Harrogate Fair Trade Shop.

The exhibition brings together local schools, community organisations, Co-op members and residents to share creative ideas and inspire action towards a more sustainable future.

The launch was attended by Harrogate and Knaresborough MP Tom Gordon, who met with participants and learned more about the collaborative projects taking place across the town to engage young people and local communities in sustainability initiatives.

Diane McGuire, Volunteer Trustee and Outreach Worker for Harrogate Fair Trade Shop, said: "We're delighted to showcase the fantastic work being carried out by local schools to help young people understand how they can care for the world around them.

"The exhibition highlights the impact of climate change on communities here and on farmers, growers and producers across the globe.

"It's incredibly positive to be working alongside Co-op to promote the importance of Fairtrade and sustainability."

The exhibition explores the links between Fairtrade, climate change, food waste, water conservation and cooperation, while highlighting the positive impact of local community action.

Organisations featured include Zero Carbon Harrogate, Harrogate Repair Café and Resurrected Bites, a local cause supported by Co-op members.

Tina Firthlock, Co-op Member Activator, said: "My role is to support Co-op members in making a positive difference within their communities while bringing Co-operative values to life.

"The photo competition, which was open to both schools and members of the public, encouraged people to think about the power of cooperation and the role it can play in creating meaningful change."
