Harrogate music event will reveal the story behind iconic cover of 1970s rock band Boston's debut album
Harrogate’s popular Vinyl Sessions event is to return with a classic rock album whose iconic cover is nearly as famous as its songs.
Taking place on Wednesday, June 10 upstairs at Starling Independent Bar Cafe Kitchen, the next instalment of this long-running fundraiser for Harrogate Hospital and Community Hospital charity will focus on Boston's incredible 25 million selling debut album
The spectacular album cover, which features the Earth exploding in the background while a fleet of guitar-shaped spaceships escapes into the universe, was based on an idea by the American rock band’s founder and songwriter Tom Scholz who envisaged a tech-inspired fleet of "guitar spaceships".
Originally released in 1976, the eponymous album by Boston is one of the quintessential 1970s albums – and begins in stirring fashion with the massive hit single More Than A Feeling.
Founded by vintage hi-fi expert Colin Paine, Vinyl Sessions fundraises for NHS Harrogate Hospital and features a historical introduction by co-host Graham Chalmers of the Harrogate Advertiser and a live-mix visual backdrop each time.
The forthcoming Vinyl Sessions will start at 7.30pm with an introduction from Colin and artist profile from Graham, before a full playback of the album on a powerful age-related 1976 Hi-Fi system, mighty Sony STR7065A receiver, Sony PS4750 Turntable, driving RAM 200 Monitor Loudspeakers.
Since it was first launched in 2018, Vinyl Sessions has raised more than £20,000 for Harrogate Hospital and Community Hospital.
Every single penny goes to Harrogate Hospital’s Special Baby Unit.
