The three lads - Henry Bartle, Ollie Ward and Jeremy Butterfield - received praise from England manager Gareth Southgate ahead of their mammoth challenge, where they ran almost 80 miles over the Bank Holiday weekend, in memory of their best friend James.

24-year-old James Hindmarsh died earlier this year after being diagnosed with an extremely rare type of bone cancer called Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma (ARMS).

Jeremy Butterfield Henry Bartle and Ollie Ward have completed three marathons in three days in memory of their best friend James Hindmarsh, who passed away earlier this year.

James was offered a number of treatment options including chemotherapy and radiotherapy but none of these were effective.

As it became clear his only option was to look into sourcing expensive private medical treatment, his friends and colleagues rallied round to raise as much money as they could to help him, with his workmates at the DSG Group raising an impressive £35,000.

His close friends also began undertaking a number of physical fundraising challenges in a bid to raise the cash.

Unfortunately James passed away in April this year, but the funds will now be donated to Sarcoma UK, a charity that works to support and help sarcoma patients.

Jeremy Butterfield Henry Bartle and Ollie Ward have completed three marathons in three days in memory of their best friend James Hindmarsh, who passed away earlier this year.

Henry, Ollie and Jeremy have raised £33,285 - a total they know will make a huge difference to many lives and one they know James would be proud of.

Jeremy told the Harrogate Advertiser: "It was a memorable three days for a more than memorable best friend. We had glorious weather for the marathons and we know he was with us every step of the way shining down on us. It was tough at times but we all kept telling each other it was nothing compared to what James endured and fought so bravely.

"We have had such great support from everyone and can’t thank them enough, we are delighted to have raised over £30k for Sarcoma UK and be able to help others because we know that’s what James would have wanted to us do."

The boys have now raised more than 30,000 which will be donated to charity Sarcoma UK.
