Charity for elderly expanding team
A Wetherby charity which has packed a massive punch during the pandemic is creating a new role to help extend its work.
Wetherby in Support of the Elderly (WiSE) is expanding its small team of paid staff by employing a fundraising and volunteer coordinator, who will bring in extra money and help to oversee the incredible work of its army of volunteer heroes.
The charity desperately wants the right person to come forward for the role, after a year which has put the vital role it plays in supporting isolated, older people in Wetherby and surrounding villages firmly in the spotlight
Chief Operating Officer Mark Dobson said: “We know it’s been an incredibly difficult year for so many people and for many job sectors.
“But we’re excited to be in a position to take on new staff and really hopeful that anyone looking for a new career or a new challenge will come forward to be considered for this exciting opportunity to help isolated, older people right here in Wetherby.”
Wetherby in Support of the Elderly (WiSE) is a registered charity organisation part funded by Leeds City Council.
Its aim is to improve quality of life for the over 60s by providing community based activities, information, help and support.
It was recently presented with a special award by the Lord Mayor of Leeds Coun Eileen Taylor in recognition of its efforts during the pandemic so far.
