Steve Archer, director of Harrogate and Pateley Bridge estate agent Verity Frearson, which is sponsoring the Awards for the third year running, said that local businesses were fundamental to the local economy.

“We’re sponsoring these awards because it’s important that the success of local businesses is recognised, and we want to be a part of that,” he said.

“But it’s not just about the winners. There are lots of small businesses doing fantastic jobs that don’t get the limelight, but which need to be celebrated.”

The awards, now in their tenth year, are open to businesses trading in the circulation area of the Harrogate Advertiser, Knaresborough Post, Wetherby News, Nidderdale Herald and Ripon Gazette – an area larger than some countries!

Every business sector is covered, and individual category sponsors include Leeds Bradford Airport, the Yorkshire Agricultural Society, Harrogate Chamber of Commerce, Harrogate Borough Council, Covance, Berwins Solicitors, Si Recruitment, McCormicks Solicitors, Saffery Champness and Cicada Communications. The champagne reception on the night will be sponsored by CNG Ltd.

The awards dinner will be held at the Majestic Hotel in Harrogate on Thursday, April 30.
