A Ripon man from the banking world is among the 83 people from Yorkshire and the Humber honoured in The King’s Birthday Honours List.
Those receiving honours in Yorkshire and the Humber include Lisette Van Riel, who raised more than £165,000 for more than 100 dog charities, and Margaret Woods Scott, who founded charity T21 to help young adults with Down Syndrome find employment.
In total, 1182 recipients have been awarded this year for their exceptional achievements, with a focus on recognising community change-makers.
Ripon man Ashley John Machin is made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for Public Service in the fields of banking, finance, pensions and welfare.

He was the Lead Non-Executive Director, Department for Work and Pensions until 2025.
He joined the Departmental Audit and Risk Assurance Committee in June 2016.
In his executive career Ashley spent nearly 30 years at Lloyds Bank and Lloyds Banking Group.
As Director and latterly Managing Director of Lloyds Banking Group’s digital business he oversaw the development and launch of a wide range of initiatives, including the launch of mobile banking and payments.
In 2014, he left Lloyds, and became Chief Digital Officer at the TSB Bank, where as a member of the Bank’s Executive Committee, he had responsibility for leading and developing the bank’s digital capability, before leaving at the end of 2015 to focus on Non-Executive roles.
These began in 2012 when he joined the Digital Advisory Board to the Government Digital Service at its formation – a role he held until 2015.
He was also a Non-Executive at Swinton Insurance, and an independent NED at Masthaven from October 2016, before 4 years as Chairman of the Bank until November 2023.
