Board of honour put up at revitalised Stables Lane

A new Honours Board has been provided in the popular and recently developed Park on Stables Lane in Boston Spa.

The Board recognises the many contributors to the facility’s successful renovation and lists the contractors that were involved and those who contributed to financing.

Local resident Kevin Alderson, the Parish Councillor responsible for the Stables Lane site development, said: “There is a list of local individuals who sponsored specific new trees that were planted all around the site, many of which include touching dedications to loved ones on whose behalf the trees were sponsored.

“The new Board provides a map of the Park and a bit of the history of the site itself.”

In an illustration of the local support that has been provided from so many sources, the robust metal frame on which the Board is fixed was provided free of charge by local metalwork firm Hartwell Engineering.

Managing Director and Boston Spa resident Carl Tomlinson said: “We had already delivered metal cycle hoops to the new Park for free, so when I was approached about designing and providing a frame for the Honours Board I was very happy to offer our support again.

“It is an excellent local facility and we are proud to have made a contribution.”

Coun Alderson added: “Hartwell Engineering’s support was one of many contributors without whom the Park would not exist in it’s current form.

“It is also important to recognise the local ward councillors who ensured that Leeds City Council made a significant financial contribution.

“The Parish Council is delighted by how popular the site has become.

“Especially in the current circumstances as it is an ideal location to visit for exercise, or just to get a bit of fresh air whilst enjoying a takeaway coffee from a local shop.”
