In a boost for the town centre as a whole as lockdown eases, Bettys say they are currently preparing everything behind the scenes to reopen most of its café tea rooms.

There is still lots of work being done but they do have all the dates for the reopening in just a matter of weeks of their popular cafes across North Yorkshire.

Operations director, Nicky Sellers, said: "We are very excited to open and really look forward to welcoming customers back to Bettys Café Tea Rooms.

"As you can imagine, we’re hugely busy behind the scenes getting everything ready, reworking our spaces and adopting new measures to ensure that our customers and staff are kept safe.

"Because most of our buildings are old, they don’t easily lend themselves to social distancing measures.

"We are reconfiguring our Café Tea Rooms, so things might feel a little different, but safety is our top priority."

In line with Government guidance, Bettys will be intoducing a range of safety measures to reassure and protect customers.

Nicky Sellers said: "‘Things are changing everywhere as we all adjust to new ways of careful and safe socialising.

"But plenty of Bettys’ best-loved treats will still be available and customers will still be met with our famous Yorkshire welcome.

"Customers will see increased staff managing queues; hand sanitisers by the entrances and in bathrooms; clear floor markings and signage to encourage social distancing and a reduced menu to ensure the safety of our colleagues at our Craft Bakery and in our kitchens.

"Like many other businesses, we will be supporting the NHS Test & Trace scheme, so Café Tea Room customers will be asked to share their contact details with us.

"We have a lot still to do before we open in the next few weeks, but detailed information about paying a visit to Bettys, including opening hours, menus and FAQs, will be available on Bettys website before too long www.bettys.co.uk
