Armed Forces Day celebrated

The themed say is a chance to show support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community: from currently serving troops to Service families, veterans and cadets.
This year the Thistle Hill Care Centre marked the occasion with a summer barbeque and entertainment featuring the first singer at the home in 16 months. Which brought so much joy to our residents.

“With classics ranging from Vera Lynn to Doris Day and Elvis Presley, our residents danced the afternoon away.
“Meanwhile our fabulous kitchen team put on a fabulous barbecue with all the works including fresh burgers, sausages, chicken, potato salad and freshly made coleslaw with some delicious strawberries and cream for dessert.
“Residents alongside invited guests to the home were able to enjoy a spread of afternoon tea as war heroes from the home told stories about their past adventures.”

Mandy Scott General Manager at the Thistle Hill Care Centre added: “We have a number of residents with personal ties to the military, and we made sure to use the occasion to thank them for their dedication to the country, and pay respect to those who lost their lives in the line of fire.”
