Baking Feast: at Pateley Bridge Memorial Hall on Saturday, March 23. The idea behind the event is to raise money for a team of doctor and nurses on a medical mission to Peru. When in Peru they will supply much needed medical care to some of the most remote areas along the Amazon River.
People are invited to donate their best baking to this charity event. These tasty delights can also be entered into a competition with a chance to win a prize. Entries can be submitted at the memorial hall 10am-1pm before the doors open to the public at 2pm when the tasty delights will be served with tea and coffee and live music. The target is £20,000 which will be used to supply the medical care for the patients for a full month on board the boat. Easter Fair: at Pateley Bridge Methodist Church on Saturday, March 30, 10am-2pm. Hot lunches and light refreshments will be available. Stalls will include cakes, crafts, gifts, books, plants etc.
Nidderdale Society: the next meeting will be on Monday, March 18. There is a change to the published title of the talk. The talk will still be by local mountaineer Andy Houseman but it will now be titled A British First; Ascent of Denali ( Mt. McKinley North Americas highest mountain at 6194m ) by the south face Slovak route. 7.30pm at Dacre Banks Village Hall.
Pateley Bridge & Upper Nidderdale Bowling Club: play on the crown green bowling green in the park at Pateley Bridge. They run three teams who play in the Harrogate & District Evening League on Mondays and Tuesdays, two teams who play in the Harrogate & District Veterans League on Friday afternoons and two teams who play in the Airedale and Wharfedale League on Saturday afternoons. They also hold quite a few club competitions during the season, usually on a Sunday and social bowling takes place most evenings. When the weather is nice, the bowling green attracts a lot of locals as well as visitors, who gather to enjoy the sunshine and watch the matches. The ages of their members range from 11 upwards and their Juniors would strongly disagree that bowling is for the elderly; it is a sport that is enjoyed by all ages. Everybody is welcome to come and try their hand at bowling and hopefully join in the fun. Glasshouses & District Gardening Club: the next meeting will be held in Dacre & Hartwith village hall on Thursday, March 21 at 7.45pm. The speaker will be Kathleen Doggett who will be speaking about her secret garden. Meetings are free to members, and non members are always welcome but we ask for a contribution of £3.
