St Robert’s Mothers’ Union: the Harrogate Deanery Mothers’ Union Advent Service will be held in St Robert’s Church on Wednesday, December 4 at 11am followed by a faith lunch.

Pannal WI: at the Pannal WI meeting on November 12, following a very succinct AGM, Kate Osborne of Farrow and Ball gave a fascinating presentation on Colour in the Home. She tried to persuade us that a small number of toned neutral colours can really pull a room together. Though many of us are very happy with our magnolia-painted walls, I think a few were converted and may well have a trip to the Farrow and Ball shop to look at the beautiful screen-printed wallpapers and the huge range of ecologically friendly paints available. Pannal WI ladies are now looking forward to their annual Christmas party which will be held on December 10 in St Robert’s Chapterhouse. The food is always delicious and the company fun! The first meeting in 2014 will be on January 14, when we will have a make-up demonstration by Boots, a must-see event. Visitors are very welcome to attend, for a small fee of £3, including refreshments.
Pannal Methodist Church Pet Service: Pannal Methodist church recently held a Pet Service so that some of the congregation’s furry companions could by blessed by Rev Dr Roberta Topham. Six dogs and a hamster attended and were thankfully very well behaved!
Pilates: a pilates class is held every Tuesday at Pannal Village Hall, from 10-11am. We have a great teacher and it’s a very friendly class. It’s open to both men and women and it’s on a pay-as-you-go basis. Do give it a go, if you need some exercise or just want to tone those muscles. Any enquiries please ring Dianne Butterfield on 01423 873211.

News and events: please let me know if you would like to publicise your news or an event in Pannal and Burn Bridge. I need to know eight days in advance of publication so that I can include the details.
