Pedal for Pannal and celebration picnic: the Pedal for Pannal event takes place this weekend. This is a sponsored bike ride following the Tour de France Yorkshire route incorporating 125 miles over two days. The event is to raise money for both the school PTA and Candlelighters which is the chosen charity of a school child who is currently being treated for leukaemia. Both parents and teachers are taking part in this worthwhile event and a celebration picnic will welcome the riders home on Sunday, July 21 on the school sports field from 2-5pm.

Pannal Primary School Sports: Pannal school Year 6 netball team won the North Yorkshire Finals which were held at Queen Margaret’s School in Escrick, York. They played nine matches and won all of them beating St Johns of Knaresborough in an all Harrogate final. Our Year 6 tennis teams also won the Harrogate tournament held recently at St John Fishers School. Also 17 of our Year 5 children played in the Chance 2 Shine cricket tournament held at Harrogate Cricket Club, our two teams  finished 1st and 2nd. Well done to all of our children who have represented the school during the school year, we have completed all of our competitions and events now so look forward to starting again next September.

School: is nearly over for the year and summer is upon us – well with the weather we have been having it feels like it has finally arrived! I am sure the streets of Pannal will seem much quieter over the coming month whilst the children are off! I hope you all have a wonderful summer and enjoy a break if you are having one. Please note there may be a couple of missed columns due to holidays.

News and events: please let me know if you would like to publicise your news or an event in Pannal and Burn Bridge. I need to know eight days in advance of publication so that I can include the details.
