A PAIR of Harrogate lads have completed a mammoth cycle ride from Harrogate to Barcelona.
Harrogate Grammar School pupil Chris Dalby, 18 from Wedderburn Road, and friend Matt Ryder, 17, who attends Ashville College, left Harrogate on July 25.
They cycled down to Poole, then caught the ferry to Cherbourg and cycled through France and on to Barcelona.
They arrived on August 12, having travelled a total of 1,300 miles.
They carried their tent, sleeping bags, spare equipment, water and cooking stove on their bikes and camped or stayed in youth hostels and B&Bs and cooked their food on a primus stove.
Chris is fundraising for a young boy suffering from Duchenne muscular dystrophy and Matt is raising money for an African orphanage. Both have raised over £1,000 for their charities.
Following the trip they enjoyed seven days with friends outside Barcelona and flew home to Leeds Bradford Airport on August 19.
