I have read with some interest Judith Simpson s letter regarding the Parliament Street and West Park returning to a two way system, and I for one feel that this would be a very good way of easing the traffic on Ripon Road, and Parliament Street.

As Judith said in her letter the A61 is a through route from north to south of the town and so it would seem common sense to me the easiest and cheapest way would be to return them to a two way system, and lose the traffic lights that are currently at the bottom of Parliament Street, and replace them with a mini roundabout, and at the same time remove the traffic lights that are currently outside Christies wine bar, and put another mini roundabout there.

When work started on the current system being used down there I have to admit that I was very sceptical as to whether or not it would work, however since the days of the traffic lights down there are finished, I notice that for me driving from Starbeck crossing to Knaresborough High Street it takes around six or seven minutes to do, as opposed to 35-45 as was in the old day of the lights.
