Letter: How could a vote for UKIP be good?

I do not understand how a vote for the UKIP PPC in the General Election next year may well be the best way forward.

It just does not make sense when one takes into account that 78 per cent of the members of the CBI would vote to stay in the EU in a referendum. The size of the EU economy is 16.6 trillion dollars and there are 500 million consumers. The cost of EU membership is 0.4 per cent of GDP.

In addition a report by UCL’s centre for research and analysis of migration reveals that European migrants made a net contribution of £20bn to UK public finances between 2000 and 2011.

Why would we need a UKIP MP whose party supports grammar schools. We have fantastic secondary schools able to develop pupils after the age of 11.

Unemployment locally stands at 0.7 per cent with youth unemployment at 0.6 per cent. In my opinion the policies of UKIP would increase unemployment.

Fortunately the UKIP vote slumped to 206 at the Hookstone by election on the 17th July this year.
