The Cardiac Specialist Nurse team at Harrogate District Hospital would like to honour the memory of one of our patients, David Kirk. David died suddenly at home on Thursday, October 2.

He had been under the care of the cardiac nurses since August 2013 and all the nurses in the team were shocked and saddened by his sudden death.

His son, Craig, took part in the London Triathlon in the summer and raised over £2,500 which he kindly donated to our team to be used in the support of patients such as his father.

As reported in this newspaper, his funeral was attended by hundreds of people, followed by a gathering at his beloved Harrogate Railway FC. Members of our team were honoured to be present. The collection at David’s funeral was also donated to our team and raised over £1,000. The money has been gratefully received and will used to enhance the care and support of cardiac patients as a lasting legacy to David. We would like to offer our heartfelt thanks to everyone who donated in his memory.
