Letter: The Stray - We mustn't have a '˜free for all'

By all means, let's discuss the usage of the glorious Stray.

But Coun Harrison’s “... we take our responsibilities for managing, maintaining and protecting the land very seriously” (Advertiser, October 27) rings rather hollow, given HBC’s consistent refusal to act against the ongoing damage to Oatlands Stray by routine parking.

The worst, but by no means only, offenders are the weekend football teams and their supporters. It is not unusual to find 30 or more cars parked, wheels on Stray, along Knaresborough Road, York Place and Oatlands Drive.

If HBC can’t or won’t control this, perhaps Coun Harrison can understand why many of us have reservations about relaxing the existing rules, possibly leading to a Stray free-for-all.
