Letter: Parking charges - Potential to damage trade
The report in your paper last week on the county council's response to the Harrogate Chamber of Trade's proposals on Sunday parking charges in the town beggars belief.
The proposal was overwhelmingly rejected by local county councillors and many sections of the community at a previous meeting and clearly things have not improved since.
Whether you think Brexit is good or not, the decision to leave the European Union has thrown the UK economy into a period of high uncertainty in the short to medium term. Harrogate District is not immune to that and anything that has a potential to damage trade is just plain stupid.

Hide AdTo suggest that the attraction to the county council of a potential income stream of another £250,000 a year is not a factor is unbelievable. This is a time for caution not more taxation.
