Letter: Making a better exhibition in Harrogate

If Harrogate wishes to bid to host the Great Exhibition of the North the town needs to smarten up.

Bollards need to be cleaned, and road signs cleaned also of the verdigris which covers them very comprehensively. We love our trees but there is a penalty to pay.

Also it would help visitors if the posts and signs were straightened - or like the one near the Asda car park entrance, removed.

Additionally lamp posts also need to be smartened up with a lick of paint and perhaps the Royal Mail could be persuaded to continue repainting their mail boxes, not just in the centre of Harrogate but further out as well.
