Letter: Junior Doctors - Treading a dangerous path

Harrogate District Hospital
Harrogate District Hospital

I spent two weeks in Harrogate Hospital last year and was very impressed by the care I received from doctors, nurses and indeed all the ancillary staff.

Despite working obviously long hours I never heard a cross word from any of them. I did wonder when they had anytime to do anything else but work (and possibly sleep).

I believe Jeremy Hunt is treading a very dangerous path and is in danger of ruining an enviable National Health Service.

Even if people can afford private health care the private sector is reliant on National Health Service doctors.

We already have a shortage of doctors (fewer than any health service in Europe apart from Portugal and Romania) and cannot afford to alienate or lose any of these excellent, committed people.
