Letter: Harrogate Council - It's time for a change...

May I express whole-hearted agreement with the sentiments expressed in Paul Ashfield's letter in the Advertiser (February 9).

The common theme throughout all the letters on the future of the Stray has been that a large proportion of the local population have lost faith in the present council to take any account of views expressed in various consultation exercises e.g. lampposts, public toilets, street parking, road junctions, new offices etc.

Judged by the letters on the Stray, the general public have shown they are not willing to trust the council to be guardians of its future and that they have the competency to deal with any future requests.

Local people have completely lost the ability to decide where much needed new housing is to be built and we are now firmly in the hands of developers as to where and when development takes place.

Let us hope that the council will take the results of the Stray consultation as a wake-up call.

I agree it is time for change.
