ELTON JOHN’S concert in Harrogate next Monday will “definitely” happen, despite his recent hospital visit.

Organisers of the event, to be held at the Yorkshire Event Centre, say the concert will go ahead as planned.

Venue manager Richard Moorhouse said: “It’s definitely happening. We’re very much looking forward to having Elton here at the Great Yorkshire Showground.

“We’re busy getting everything ready. The production team arrive this week to begin setting up and we expect the concert to proceed as planned.”

Elton John and his band are scheduled in the Main Ring of the Great Yorkshire Showground at the Yorkshire Event Centre, on Bank Holiday Tuesday, June 5.

Fears had been raised after the singer was hospitalised last week with a respiratory infection, cancelling three planned gigs in Las Vegas.

A statement, released by his spokesman, said: “Following his recent chest infection, Elton John is currently resting in Los Angeles, before he returns to London early next week.

“He is really looking forward to starting the UK tour. Elton believes there is something very special about playing concerts around the UK.

“The audiences are wonderful, and he could not be more excited about this very special run of dates in early June.”
