O2 launches 4G in Knaresborough

The popular mobile phone network, O2, has said that work has started this week to bring its 4G service to Knaresborough as well as improving its 2G and 3G network in the area.

The service intends to provide customers with high speed mobile internet when in Knaresborough and work is scheduled to be completed by Wednesday August 5.

Derek McManus, Chief Operating Officer, Telefónica UK said: “O2 customers in Knaresborough will soon be able to experience faster mobile internet on their devices such as streaming high definition TV, shopping on the go, and video calling. For our business customers, 4G is all about working more effectively. They can work remotely, access cloud services, collaborate using apps and so on. 4G will make everything easier for them.”

However the network has warned customers in the area that whilst work is ongoing they may experience intermittent signal and have suggested downloading the TUGo application.

A spokesperson for O2 said: “Subject to successful implementation and testing, customers will see the new and improved service shortly afterwards.”

The mobile network has also announced it’s plans to spend £600 million in 2015 on its network and said it will have invested over £3 billion in 4G and the modernisation of its 2G and 3G networks across the UK by the end of 2017.

O2’s 4G service is currently available in over 530 towns and cities across the UK.
