Nurses saddle up to cross USA

Nurses Andy Dennis and Tracey Hill are to set out tomorrow on a 4,000-mile cycle ride across America for Medecins Sans Frontieres Doctors Without Borders.

Endoscopy department nurse Andy, 49, has carried out four missions for MSF and has been fundraising ever since, having gained over £60,000 towards his £100,000 goal.

“I have the best inspiration to fundraise that you could imagine - over four missions with MSF where I have looked into the eyes of people who have nothing; they may have lost their home, their loved ones or their means of support,” said Andy from Starbeck.

“Tracey and I are new to long distance cycling - amateurs testing ourselves to the limit and are nervous about such a challenge.

“Life on two wheels will at times be thrilling and at other times be tough and draining.”

Tracey, 43, and also from Starbeck, works at York Hospital’s dermatology department, and was introduced to MSF’s work by Andy. Donate to: http://thecyclingnurse.co.uk/ and https://www.justgiving.com/TraceyHill2016
