Night under the stars an adventure for Brownies
More than 70 Brownies from across the North East, including twelve from 1st North Stainley Brownies, spent a night under the stars at Carlton Lodge Outdoor Centre.
The Brownies had an adventurous time taking part in the challenge of building their own raft and navigating it around a set course.
They tried out something new with a challenging high ropes course and learning bush craft skills. The bravest even took part in a bug and insect challenge.
Brownie Lola Sadler said: “I liked going on the high ropes but it was really scary.”
Iona Tayor, Leader with 1st North Stainley said: “It was a fantastic opportunity for the girls to camp in a safe environment and try out new and challenging activities.
“It was brilliant to see girls trying their best and exceeding what they thought they could achieve.”
Rachel Lamond, who organised the weekend on behalf of Girlguiding North East, said: “It has been such a wonderful opportunity to take the Brownies out of their comfort zone.
“They have mixed with girls they wouldn’t normally meet, tried new activities and some had never even camped before. They have seen just what they can do when they work together - it has been a fantastic weekend.”
