New photos of Harrogate blaze damage

Remarkable new photographs by a member of the public show the full extent ot the damage caused by a major blaze in Starbeck, Harrogate.

The revealing pictures were taken last Friday by David Leonard, former church warden at St Andrew's Church in Starbeck, from a vantage point high up in the church parapet of St Andrew's Church.

The church sits next door to the empty McColl's shop premises on Starbeck High Street which were hit by a major blaze just over three weeks ago.

Fire crew from Harrogate, Knaresborough, Boroughbridge and Wetherby spent hours tackling the blaze and the high street also had to be closed to traffic temporarily.

The vacant property is one of the biggest and most prominent on Starbeck High Street. It now languishes behind an orange-coloured steel fence with a 'danger' sign attached.

Plesse note, Starbeck Residents Association is holding its annual general meeting on Tuesday, August 14 at St Andrew's church hall.

The new timing of the AGM is to coincide with the awards of the Grants Committee. .
