New look for county's Rotary

Rotary in North Yorkshire is jumping into the 21st Century with the launch of a new way of delivering Rotary for busy people.

Networking is now the key, offering participants the opportunity to get to know each other better, share ideas, learn new skills and develop community projects.

“With flexible exclusive online ‘meeting’ place with times to fit in with work requirements, the new group, supported by traditional Rotary groups in North Yorkshire, will stretch from Wensleydale and Northallerton in the north to Harrogate, Wetherby and York in the south,” said a spokesman.

“The central axis of the A1 motorway provides it with the name of Rotaryyora1.org, a web site which goes live on May 1. It is here that anyone will be able to participate in the new group.”

Those taking part will be asked to commit 24 hours of service per year taking into account Rotary’s motto of Service above self, and participation will be encouraged from people within a 45-minute drive time from Knaresborough which is the central location for this new Rotary area.

Rotary is a non-political, secular, multi-cultural organisation for men and women of all ages who wish to ‘give something back’ to society under the banner “We’re for Communities – local and international”.

“Above all Rotary is fun and fulfilling and Rotarians around the world bring their individual skills.”
