New festival to build links with Cathedral
Ripon Cathedral Revealed, a Festival of Flowers, Music, Spirituality, Food and Drink will take place over the May Bank Holiday Weekend from April 28 to May 2 and will include a spectacular flower festival, a two-day food festival in the grounds of the Cathedral, live music, as well as exhibitions and workshops. The Dean of Ripon Cathedral, the Very Revd. John Dobson, said: “Ripon Cathedral Revealed aims to showcase how much more there is to this Cathedral than many people might imagine.
“We have a wonderful ancient Cathedral that is one of Yorkshire’s most significant and beautiful buildings. This is brought alive each day by a huge number of individuals and groups who bring their varied skills and enthusiasm to offer something that enriches the lives of thousands of visitors.

Hide Ad“Obviously, we are a Church and our faith in Christ energises all that we are and do; like Jesus, we want people to enjoy life in its fullness.
“This festival gives people of all ages an opportunity to come and enjoy themselves and to see just how much there is to celebrate. We are truly grateful to CNG for supporting Ripon Cathedral in this way.”
Highlights include 23 floral displays designed and created by Ripon Cathedral Flower Guild, depicting many different aspects of the life the Cathedral and the community.
A celebration of food will be one of the main features of the Festival, sponsored by Harrogate firm CNG, with a two-day food festival taking place in the grounds of the Cathedral on Friday and Saturday.

Hide AdMusic, a Jazz Band playing at the preview evening, Choral Evensong, lunchtime and evening concerts, Songs of Praise service on Sunday and live music at the Beer Festival on Bank Holiday Monday will also take place.
There will be an opportunity for the public to see behind the scenes with guided tours to include the Bell Tower and an opportunity for all to play the Cathedral organ as well as cultural activities.
