MP does his bit in a festive knit

And Harrogate and Knaresborough MP Andrew Jones popped into the Save the Children shop in Harrogate to show hsi support for volunteers over the festive period.

“Nearly everyone seems to be wearing their Christmas jumper today,” said the MP.

“Behind the fun though lies a serious message about helping those less fortunate than ourselves. The campaign to beat cancer – particular when it affects young people – will receive a significant boost from the Text Santa appeal.

“It will help make the wishes come true of young people facing life-threatening illnesses and fund that support which is so vital for them and their families.”

Jeanette Mowat, a volunteer speaker for Save the Children, said: “Profits from the shop not only help the charity to respond to emergency situations, but also funds long-term development work.

“The shop is staffed entirely by volunteers which maximises the amount raised from stock given by the public.

“We are always grateful for donations of good quality clothes and bric-a-brac. Today, we were really pleased to welcome Andrew Jones to our shop and also the newly appointed Retail Director, Tim Sutton – who is a Harrogate resident.”
