RETAILER Mothercare is to close 36 of its stores and 75 Early Learning Centres over the next three years.
It is currently uncertain whether this will affect the Harrogate branches of each shop.
The move will cut the company’s total UK stores from 311 to 200. 95 of these are set to be out-of-town sites, and 105 on the high street.
More than 700 jobs are expected to be lost as a result of the closures.
The announcement, which follows 62 store closures by the chain in the last financial year, has been attributed to poor trading.
