Man tries to wrench woman’s handbag from her shoulder in Ripon

A man tried to wrench a woman’s handbag from her shoulder as she walked along a Ripon street yesterday evening. (Tuesday, December 22)

The woman was walking alone along Firby Lane at around 6.20pm when the suspect approached the 47-year-old woman from behind and made an attempt to snatch her bag.

The victim resisted and the suspect made off empty-handed towards Park Street.

Police are appealing for witnesses and information following the attempted robbery.

The suspect is described as 5ft 6”, of slight build, wearing dark trousers and a dark baggy hooded top.
