Light aircraft loses wing after miracle crash landing in North Yorkshire field

A pilot had a lucky escape when he managed to safely land his light aircraft in a field today.

The plane's engine failed over the villages of Long Marston and Tockwith, near Wetherby, just before 10.30am.

Yet the pilot managed to skillfully guide the aircraft down and it made an emergency landing in a farmer's field.

The plane lost a wing in the process and the owner, who was unhurt, is arranging for its recovery.
