It was encouraging to see Coun Don Mackenzie on TV the other night when a “new” more efficient system of pothole repair was demonstrated (let’s hope also yielding durable results).
Over the last 10 years potholes have been winning the battle, ever spreading like a rash.
Many roads in our district are in an awful state of repair and failure to address the problem effectively now will see many roads reduced to cart tracks over the next five to 10 years.
We should remember a stitch in time saves nine, if we do not reverse the trend rapidly the costs in the future will be huge and perhaps prohibitive.
Let’s hope the “new” method is highly effective in reducing time and cost, enabling obvious progress to be made.
