Elections: voting for the North Yorkshire County Council takes place on Thursday, May 2 from 7am-10pm. Those of us in the Kings Road area used to vote in the Saint Luke’s Church Hall. Please note we now have a new place to cast our vote. The address is Knapping Mount Conference Room, West Grove Road, HG1 2AE. Last time it proved quite difficult to find for those not familiar with the area, perhaps it will be better signed this time. Anyone who is entitled to vote but has not had a card delivered, no need to worry, just go along and give your name and address. Information may be had by ringing 0845 300 6091.

Saint Luke’s Church: the service at 10.30am for the fifth Sunday of Easter will be morning worship at Saint Luke’s Church, Franklin Square, HG1 5EL. Further details on 01423 560863.

Trip Advisor: most people have not heard of Trip Advisor which is an internet site where those who wish, may report on their experience of such things as holidays, restaurants and hotels. Someone pointed out to me that when it first started most people who used it were those who like to talk negatively about there experiences but as time has gone on the reviews are more balanced and it is now being used to check out information before visiting a new place. In our area The Ascot and Kimberley Hotels, and Caffe Rosso and B.E.D. restaurant have been top of the list several times, albeit from a small number of reviews but very encouraging.

News and information: if you are planning an event or have had success at school, work or with fundraising or anything you think may be of interest to those in our area please get in touch. Details are at the head of the column. I look forward to hearing from you.
