Wonderful Community Festive Tea: just before Christmas some friends and I had the most wonderful and entertaining afternoon organised by Cathy Hindle and the staff and Years 8 and 9 pupils of St John Fisher High School. From arriving at the car park there was constant attention to our needs, we walked in the hall to an energetic and festive sound of music, drinks were offered, we were shown to our seats and soon the festive tea arrived and arrived and arrived. Just so much choice of lovely food to enjoy and the young people engaging us in happy conversation. There were keyboard players, singers, jazz band and more keeping a happy mood going all afternoon. We were even encouraged to dance, walking sticks put to one side. Then into the chapel for carols and to finish a fun board game. A special mention of Christian Lunn, who sang Some Enchanted Evening, enchantingly and a young man whose name I did not get but who recited the poem about Our Albert and being ate up by Lions at Zoo in Blackpool. We have all heard that poem so many times but never have we laughed so much as this young man brought it all to life. There is often reference to the young people of today in the media and often this is negative but with young people like these getting ready to move into the world I am sure things can only be good. Thank you all.
