Half Price Orange Saturday: a fund raiser, Half Price Orange Saturday, recently organised by Regal Fruiters, Kings Road was well supported and a big thank you is offered to all who went along to support the charity Myloma Uk. Over £2,000 has been achieved not only from this event but also a coffee morning and Peter Weatherhead from Regal running the Liverpool Marathon. Myloma UK will use the money for more research and supporting families affected.

Wagtails Veterinary Practice: currently holding a fund raiser on Kings Road, near Franklin Mount are the staff at Wagtails Veterinary Practice. They are making home made biscuits to help raise funds for the Cats Protection League.

Second Sunday Service: at Saint Luke’s Church of England Church on Franklin Square on Sunday, December 9 will be the usual second Sunday in the month service AllAge/Parade. The service starts at 10.30am and lasts for about an hour. Further information may be had by e mail at

Christmas Past: a talk entitled Season’s Greetings: Christmas Past will be given by Harrogate’s curator of human history, Ros Watson on Friday, December 7 at the Mercer Arty Gallery, Swan Road. She will be showing Christmas decorations and cards from the museum collections and looking at seasonal traditions. The start time is 1.30pm, tickets are £6 which include tea, mince pies and admission to the Royal Pump Room Museum on that day. Ring 556188 to find out more.

Sitting Room: the comedy club known as Sitting Room will next present an evening of laughter at the Hotel St George, Ripon Road on Wednesday, December 12. Performers in the line up will be Paul Tonkinson, Dan Evans and Sarah Kendall. Tom Taylor will host and notice is given that although unlikely, it is possible the acts may be subject to change. Tickets are £10 from the hotel reception and the event starts at 8pm.

Afternoon Of Wartime Nostalgia with the Forces Sweetearts: many of our Christmas songs were written in the 40s and early 50s but are still sung as part of many Christmas celebrations. At 2.30pm on Wednesday, December 12 the Royal Hall will see such a celebration when Forces Sweethearts Beryl, Carolyn and Jenny will entertain with songs made famous by names such as Vera Lynn, Marlene Deitrich and The Andrews Sisters.

Stand Up Comedian: Greg Davies will return to the Royal Hall on Thursday, December 13 with his brand new stand up show. A show to lift the spirits will start at 8 pm.

An Evening Of Karaoke: every Thursday evening at 8.45pm DJ Ian, at Hale’s Bar, Crescent Road will be encouraging everyone to take part. Also DJ Ian on the last Wednesday every month will provide a night dedicated to Northern Soul and Motown.
