Yorkshire Past and Present: the Harrogate Stray Probus Club meets at the Ascot Hotel, Kings Road. At their next meeting on Tuesday, February 12 Alan Plowright will speak to members about Yorkshire, Past and Present. The meetings are fortnightly and start at 2.30pm. Saint Luke’s Church of England Church: the service at 10.30am on Sunday, February 3 will be Holy Communion. The church is on Franklin Square situated behind the old Saint Luke’s Church (with the clock on Kings Road). Information on 01423 560863.

Fundraising Tea: on Sunday, February 3 at 4pm a fundraising tea is planned in the church hall at Saint Luke’s Church Franklin Square. Tea, talks and music are on the programme. The entrance fee is £2.50 and £1 for children . Monies raised will go towards funding Jess Stanley’s trip to Watoto and Kirsty Cavill’s trip with guides to Madagascar.

Sitting Room Comedy: the comedy club hosted by Tom Taylor at the Saint George Hotel, 1 Ripon Road, Harrogate on Wednesday, February 13 and known as Sitting Room, have booked Gary Decaney, Paul Thorne and Alan Francis to entertain their audience. will give full details.

Museum Visit Planned: the Harrogate Civic Society will visit the Royal Pump Room Museum , Crown Place, Harrogate at 7pm on Tuesday, February 5. As well as looking at the current exhibition on view, Harrogate For Health And Happiness they will also see a 30 minute archive film and have a talk by Ros Watson, curator of Human History, Harrogate Museums and Art . Entrance is £5 which includes a glass of wine. Unity Allotments: after negotiation with the Harrogate Borough Council, Harrogate and District Allotment Federation have obtained a new ten year lease due to talk effect from April 2013. A new rent increase comes into force in 2016 for all sites. To be prepared for the increase Unity have decided to increase plot rentals immediately by £3 whole plot and £2 half plot this will help them to be prepared for when they get the increased council bill in 2015. Full plots are now £44 and half plots £27 with reductions for pensioners.

Classic Jazz Vocals: on Saturday, February 2 at 7.30pm in the Royal Hall, Ripon Road, the BBC Big Band will perform a wide reaching programme of jazz classics. Award winning jazz vocalist Claire Martin OBE joins the band for a celebration of legendary leading ladies of big band including Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Judy Garland and Peggy Lee singing songs which made them famous such as Fascinating Rhythm, That Old Black Magic, The Man Who Got Away and The Trolley Song.
