The 21-year-old striker has signed a deal that will keep him at the CNG Stadium until the end of the season, having impressed while at the club on a temporary basis earlier in the campaign.

Wright joined Town from the Blades on a three-month loan in September and found the net during a 5-1 demolition of AFC Telford United, before suffering an injury that saw him sidelined for the rest of his spell in North Yorkshire.

Boss Simon Weaver was keen to add an attacking player to his squad following the departure of frontman Simon Ainge to Wrexham on loan, and feels that Wright is a good fit.

“Jake is a player who I think very highly of. He’s got a lot of potential and will score goals,” the Town manager said.

“He’s a finisher and offers us something a little bit different. He’s a good addition.

“I felt it was important to add to the group after Aingey left, so I’m pleased that Jake has come back.

“He scored four for Sheffield United’s under-23s against Nottingham Forest recently, so it’s looks like he’s fully recovered from his injury.”

Currently top of National League North on goal-difference, Town’s next outing comes in the form of a home clash with FC United of Manchester on Saturday, 3pm kick-off.
