Bollywood comes to Harrogate this month when the Sygnets hold their Indian Summer Ball in aid of Parkinsons UK.

The annual charity event, which will take place on September 24 at the Masonic Hall in Harrogate, will feature an Indian/English-styled menu, Bollywood-style costumes and a rafffle of prizes donated by local businesses.

The group has also received an unusual donation for its auction in the form of an original oil painting of Audrey Hepburn.

The artist, local designer David Rogers, said: “I have very much enjoyed attending the previous Sygnet charity events and seen how much hard work and effort the ladies put into making them a success.

“This year I wanted to be able to contribute something to help them with their fundraising, especially for such a worthwhile charity as Parkinsons UK”.

Tickets for the event, which cost £30 and include a four-course meal and disco, are available from or 07917 713006.

Sygnets was set up six years ago by Harrogate and District Soroptimists for professional women aged 20 to 40. Members meet once a month with the aim of raising funds for local and national charities while also having fun and socialising.
