IMAGES: Trafalgar night dinner in Harrogate

The Harrogate & District Branch of The Royal Naval Association held their Annual Trafalgar Night Dinner at The Ascot House Hotel, Harrogate. The Guest Speaker was Lt Colonel Ian Buckley MBE, a retired Army Officer who had also spent some time with the Royal Marines. Invited guests included members of The Harrogate White Rose Branch of The Merchant Navy Association, Harrogate Royal Air Force Association, Ripon Royal Engineers Association and TS CLEOPATRA Harrogate Sea Cadets Committee.

Reverend John Smith, the Branch Honorary Chaplain, gave the Pre and After Dinner Grace, Shipmate John Stray, Branch President, proposed a ‘Toast to The Royal Marines’, in this their 350th year since formation, Shipmate Fred Thompson proposed the ‘Toast to Absent Friends’, Shipmate Richard Jones proposed ‘The Loyal Toast to Her Majesty The Queen’ and Shipmate Doug Pointon proposed the ‘Toast to The Immortal Memory of Admiral Lord Nelson’.

A Tot of Naval Rum was provided to all, in true Naval Tradition, by the Rum Bosun, Shipmate Doug Pointon.

A most enjoyable evening was had by all, complimented by the excellent food and friendly service of the management, and staff, of The Ascot House Hotel.
