Rothstone Estates held a public exhibition in the city on Saturday, February 27 to ask for feedback on the £10m proposals.

Information leaflets about the proposals, which could create 80 new jobs, are to be delivered to nearby residents and businesses in the coming days.

If approved, the plans would see an M&S return to Ripon seven years after the closure of their original store on The Arcade.

The proposal also includes three smaller units on a site off Rotary Way and will include a bus link between the site and the city centre.

Mark Rothery, Managing Director of Rothstone Estates said: “We are delighted with the level of interest and response so far from the community.

"The consultation event on Saturday attracted over 230 people, with the majority welcoming the development. It was great to speak with so many local residents about these plans.

“The public exhibition is one element of the consultation on the proposals. Information leaflets about the proposals are being delivered to nearby properties.

"A website is also available, along with a Facebook page and Twitter feed. We would urge people to take this opportunity to provide us with their comments.

“We will consider the feedback we receive over the coming weeks and make any amendments to the proposals where possible and appropriate.”
