Historic Harrogate hotel put up for sale

The Majestic Hotel in Harrogate is one of a portfolio of 10 regional UK hotels, known as Project Solstice, that has gone on sale for a total guide price of £130m.

Boasting 170 bedrooms, the Victorian-style Majestic first opened in 1900 at the height of Harrogate’s prosperity and it capitalised then on the town’s hugely popular baths, located a short distance away.

It is set within eight acres of private gardens and has become a four-star establishment with a health club, a restaurant, two bars and 15 conference rooms catering for up to 500 delegates.

Other hotels being included in the sale are: The Old Ship Hotel, Brighton; The Redworth Hall Hotel, County Durham; The Imperial Hotel, Torquay; The Billesley Manor Hotel, Stratford-upon-Avon; The Imperial Hotel, Blackpool and The Shrigley Hall Hotel, Golf and Country Club, Macclesfield.

In Scotland and Wales, the portfolio includes The Stirling Highland Hotel, Stirling; The Aberdeen Altens Hotel, Aberdeen and The Angel Hotel, Cardiff.

Altogether, the hotels have a combined total of 1,433 bedrooms and 111 meeting rooms. They produced a total revenue of £48m last year.

The properties are being represented on the market jointly by agents Savills and Rothschild.
