A Knaresborough Rotarian has triumphed in her first open water swimming challenge to help in the battle against polio.

Sarah Bosomworth completed a half mile swim at Poole Bay off the south coast to raise funds and awareness for Rotary’s End Polio Now campaign.

Water temperatures were “a positively tropical 16C”, a Rotary spokesman said. Sarah completed the swim in around 26:35 minutes, and came eigth in her age group.

Sarah also has hands on experience of the campaign after taking part in a polio vaccination day in Kathmandu last year, and has pledged to continue her fundraising efforts for the next 12 months.
