A Harrogate primary school rated outstanding in a recent Ofsted report is stepping up its fundraising drive for a desperately-needed new playground.
Western Primary School on Cold Bath Road is calling on all local businesses, benefactors and school alumni to support its £100,000-plus campaign to build "a new playground for and by the community."
The school, which was judged by the Ofsted inspector as "outstanding in all areas", has already raised nearly £60,000 in the last two years thanks to the hard work of its Parent-Teacher Association.
Western Primary School has very little outside space for their children to play in and its PTA is determined to make the very best of the space to encourage the community's children to flourish physically and educationally.
In a new initiative, a 'Plaque of Thanks' campaign is now under way to thank all those who have been contributing to the cause.
A plaque of donors will be displayed in a prominent position in the playground and logo banner will be displayed during phase one of the works which will begin this summer with well respected Yorkshire playground specialists, Playscheme.
Recent donors have included Thompsons Accountants, Manna Bakery, Space PR, West Yorkshire Steel and Laborare Group Ltd.
