The Harrogate Advertiser is giving your pet the chance to win big at the town’s Dog Show in May.

Although it’s pampered pups taking centre stage at the event, we know that cat, horse and even goldfish owners will lay claim to their pet being best in town.

And we want you to prove it.

So, the Harrogate Advertiser series has teamed up with Dog Show organisers Kimberley Metcalfe of Pooches Galore and Verity Watts of Shampooches to find the best pet portrait in the town.

We want readers to send in pictures of your pet.

They could be doing something unusual or just looking cute out and about town.

We will feature the best photos when we can, and each image sent in to us will be entered into the final competition, when all the photos will be displayed to be judged at the Dog Show.

There will be a prize for the top photo, to be awarded at the show.

Kimberley said: “Verity and I are very much looking forward to judging everybody’s pet pictures.

“We are looking for all kinds of pets, and we will display the pictures at the show in May.”

It doesn’t matter if you own a pony or a piranha.

As long as the photograph is high-resolution and sent in jpeg format, your pet will be considered.

Please include your name and that of the pet when you contact us.

There are plenty of ways in which you can send the pet portraits over to us.

Email reporters Alex Johnston on alexander.johnston@jpress.co.uk or Laura Hill at laura.hill@ypn.co.uk

You can send pictures over Twitter@HarrogateHound

Alternatively, send the photo to us on our Facebook page, or send a hard copy to Harrogate Advertiser, 1, Cardale Park, Beckwithead Road, Harrogate, HG3 1RZ.

To get things started, above is one of our reporter’s dogs, Maggie.

The Harrogate Dog Show is taking place on May 25 at Harrogate Rugby Club. The show will raise cash for charities Dogs Trust and Brathay Trust.

Other competitions on the day will include waggiest tail and one to find out which dog looks most like its owner.
