Katy Melanie Skrypak, 32, of 20 Elm Road, Ripon, was given a 12-month conditional discharge for stealing groceries and toys worth £288.54 from Asda in Harrogate, and for stealing clothing from the same shop on a separate occasion. She was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £15 and costs of £85.

Kenneth Stephen Fowler, 58, of 6 Swinton Court, Harrogate, was given a six-month prison sentence suspended for 12 months for carrying a kitchen knife in a public place. He was ordered to have treatment for alcohol dependency for six months, and to pay a victim surcharge of £80. No separate penalty was imposed for being drunk and disorderly, failing to surrender to custody, or committing a further offence while subject to a previous conditional discharge.

Joseph Paul Aaron Morrison, 22, of 5 Wigby Close, Burton Leonard, was given a one-month prison sentence for damaging a Vauxhall Astra while subject to a previous suspended sentence. He was given a restraining order for threatening to damage a car, preventing him from going to Westbourne Grove, Ripon, and from contacting the car’s owner.

Charlotte Hannah Ward, 24, of 50 Pannal Ash Drive, Harrogate, was given a 12-month conditional discharge for assault by beating at Harrogate District Hospital. She was ordered to pay compensation of £400.

The following were dealt with at Harrogate Magistrates Court on February 9:

Phillip John Coverdale, 31, of 107 Harewood Road, Harrogate, was fined £230 for driving while under the influence of alcohol. He was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £23 and costs of £85, and was disqualified from driving for 15 months, to be reduced by 15 weeks on completion of an approved course.

Stephen Paul MacDonald, 31, of 19 Princess Road, Ripon, was given a six-month conditional discharge for damaging a police vehicle. He was ordered to pay a £15 victim surcharge and £85 costs.

David Austin Wombwell, 56, of 295 Skipton Road, Harrogate, was fined £110 for driving while under the influence of alcohol. He was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £20 and costs of £85, and was disqualified from driving for 17 months, to be reduced by 17 weeks on completion of an approved course.

Ugis Zeltmanis, 33, of 21 Station Drive, Ripon, was made subject to a restraining order for assault by beating. He was ordered to pay compensation of £150, a victim surcharge of £60 and costs of £85. For a second charge of assault by beating and damaging a mobile phone, he was given a 12-month community order and must carry out 100 hours of unpaid work.

Samantha Thomson, 32, 86 Magdalens Road, Ripon, was fined £220 for failing to have the correct insurance for a vehicle. She was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £22 and costs of £110.

The following were dealt with at Harrogate Magistrates Court on February 3:

Martin Hugh Johnston, 31, of 13A Roche Avenue, Harrogate, was imprisoned for four weeks for assault by beating, while subject to a previous suspended sentence. The total imprisonment was 13 weeks after previous suspended sentences were activated. He was made subject to a restraining order preventing him from contacting the victim. A further one-week concurrent sentence was imposed for damaging a door belonging to Harrogate Borough Council and he was ordered to pay compensation of £125.

James Barry Wall, 24, of Apartment 6, Ivey Court, Nora Avenue, Knaresborough, was ordered to carry out 40 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months for breaching a non-molestation order. He was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £60 and costs of £85.

Andrew Simon Norton, 35, of 24 Woodfield Road, Harrogate, was given a 12-month community order for assault by beating and must complete up to 40 days’ activity as required by the responsible officer. For a charge of assault by beating, he was fined £20 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £60 and costs of £620.

The following were dealt with at Harrogate Magistrates Court on February 2:

Louise Rachel Atkinson, 33, of 108 Bramham Drive, Harrogate, was fined £180 for driving while under the influence of alcohol. She was disqualified from driving for 22 months, to be reduced by 22 weeks on completion of an approved course, and was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £20 and costs of £85. No separate penalty was imposed for failing to stop after an accident.

Richard Hart, 30, of 17 St Andrew’s Crescent, Harrogate, was committed to prison for 14 days for failing to comply with a supervision order imposed on release from prison.

A woman from Ripon was given a six-month conditional discharge for failing to ensure her child attended Moorside Infant School regularly. She was ordered to pay costs of £150 and a victim surcharge of £15.

Callum Trevor Bates, 20, of Spring Bank, Minskip, was given a 12-month community order, including a three-month curfew, for taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent and causing more than £5,000 of damage in a collision, while under the influence of alcohol. He was ordered to complete a Thinking Skills programme, carry out 100 hours of unpaid work and pay costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £60. He was disqualified from driving for 20 months. A separate fine of £170 was imposed for failing to pay a taxi fare, along with compensation of £21.

Gary Steel, 53, of 4 Doublegates Close, Ripon, was fined £345 for driving while under the influence of alcohol. He was disqualified from driving for three years, to be reduced by 36 weeks on completion of an approved course, and was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £35 and costs of £85.
