Returning for its fourth year, the BBC Apprentice-style charity challenge sees 12 teams using their creative flair to grow a £100 investment loan during the month of October.

The contest then heats up as competitors battle to return the biggest profit for Saint Michael’s, which provides care and support to local people living with terminal illness and bereavement.

Last year teams collectively raised £34,000, and champions from energy firm CNG will return to face the judges in the Saint Michael’s boardroom.

CNG managing director Jacqui Hall said: “The whole concept drives participants to go that extra mile, and with our charity calendar we went above and beyond our previous fundraising activities.

“It was fun, challenging, and exciting, and the amount of money raised by all the businesses involved highlights what a fantastic initiative is.”

As well as a range of prizes for the winning team, there will also be rewards for the most innovative idea and the most entertaining antics.

After missing out on victory in 2013, The Academy health club will also return to try and steal the top spot from winning team CNG.

Managing director Philippa Shackleton said: “Raising money for the crucial work that Saint Michael’s undertakes is a massive incentive for all the team here at The Academy and we have no doubt that, with the help of our fantastic members, we will be inspired to pull out all the stops.”

All money raised during the challenge will go towards the work Saint Michael’s does for people facing terminal illness or bereavement.

This includes expanding services at their Hornbeam Park hospice, working with the NHS, running the area’s first bereavement support service, and sharing clinical palliative care strategies.

The hospice receives a grant of only £889,000 from the NHS towards the £4.4m needed to maintain its current level of services.

The challenge, sponsored by Harrogate and Ripon-based hair salon Baroque, culminates in an awards evening on November 11 at the Crown Hotel, Crown Place.

You’re Inspired is open to anyone but teams must register by Friday, September 19.
