After an elderly man who used the project’s Springboard day centre left a legacy of almost £100,000, and an anonymous benefactor bequeathed £30,000, the project has been able to invest in a property to provide supported housing.

Chief Executive Liz Hancock and the board of trustees said that the investment is part of the project’s commitment to providing a full street to home pathway

.Liz said: “The project knows through experience that in many cases homelessness cannot be swiftly solved. Our end to end service takes time to achieve lasting resettlement by supporting individuals on a journey of change in their lives. This is why we believe in giving a hand up, rather than just a handout.

“Purchasing our own property ensures the future stability of our street to home pathway, and is an important part of our strategy as we mark this milestone anniversary.

“Helping people out of their homeless situation can be a difficult journey for them; the first step is to seek help and access the support available. We are staffed 24/7 so if anyone is concerned about someone sleeping rough that they have seen, please call us on 01423 566900.

“Even if someone doesn’t feel ready enough to come indoors, we can still offer support in other ways.”
