Harrogate Grammar School praised for GCSE success

Students and staff at Harrogate Grammar School (HGS) have celebrated their place in the top 100 state schools in England.

Based on the performance of students at GCSE level last year, the Minister of State for Schools, Nick Gibb MP wrote to all the schools in the top 100 to congratulate them.

HGS were one such school commended by the MP after 81 per cent of students achieved at least five A*-C grades at GCSE.

Headteacher Richard Sheriff said: “This acknowledgement of the wonderful achievements of our young people is appreciated as is the thanks to the dedicated and talented teachers and support staff who make that achievement possible.

"We are particularly proud of the fact that not only do our students achieve outstanding outcomes they also make outstanding progress with students of all abilities achieving excellent outcomes.”
