The event which was due to be held on April 2, will now be staged on September 17, still at the same venue, Pavilions of Harrogate.

Editor of the Harrogate Advertiser, Jean MacQuarrie said: "I doubt the news will come as a surprise, as so many events are now being rescheduled, and it was obviously the only sensible thing to do. We are disappointed we can't stage the awards in April, but everyone involved has been very understanding.

"We are grateful to Pavilions for being so flexible in finding the new date of September 17, and the awards ceremony will still follow the format we had planned for April.

"It just means we have a wait a little longer to reveal all the winners."

Tickets already sold will transfer to the new date and a separate networking evening ahead of the awards, which was scheduled for Thursday (March 19th) at the White Hart Hotel in Harrogate has been cancelled.

Meanwhile the Harrogate Advertiser will continue to work hard to support local businesses. Jean said: "Our mission over the next few difficult months will be doing all we can in print and online to support local businesses in these tough times, through accurate information sharing and publicity, and staying positive in our tone and coverage as much as possible."
